A remote dimmer provide the same range of brightness and is often programmable to provide preset lighting effects at the touch of a button.

Switch dimmers have a sliding or rotating switch to provide full flexibility of brightness. Touch dimmers have preset light levels that can be activated when touched. Three types of dimmer exist: touch, switch and remote. Usually made from plastic or metal with a single or double mechanism for controlling lights, the wall plate keeps any wiring hidden in a recess behind.ĭimmers - As the name suggests, dimmer switches alter the brightness of your light to change the mood of your room. Wall switch - Designed to operate wall or ceiling lights, wall switches are placed approximately 15cm from the door to give easy access when entering or leaving a room. The bulb is usually held by clips, which can be undone, before removing the bulb with a gentle twist and pull. To change these bulbs, the circular case needs to be unscrewed from the housing which is unseen and sunk into the ceiling. These are often used in ceiling fittings that are fitted flush to the ceiling and are housed in a circular case. They also have two prongs, but are fitted by a "push and twist" action. Twist Lock - These caps are used in Halogen Spotlights. All Dunelm fittings which use capsule bulbs come with an initial supply. This bulb simply screws into a thread inside the socket.Ĭapsule - The bulb is small has no metal cap, instead there are two delicate prongs protruding from the bottom of the bulb and is fitted by pushing into two corresponding holes in the light fitting. All UK domestic pendant ceiling fittings fit this type of cap.Įdison Screw - The two most common sizes are Edison Screw (ES), which is 27 mm diameter and Small Edison Screw (SES), which is 14mm diameter. The metal bulb cap has two prongs, which the user fits into two reverse 'L' grooves in the socket, using a "push and twist" action. Overall, we provided a complete turnkey solution for the client, utilising our building contractor, decorators, electrical division, as well as installing heating & ventilation, and designing various lighting scenes, the list goes on! The client has been delighted with the finished room, and uses it daily.Bayonet - This is the most common type in the UK. The client gave us 5 of their favourite films, and we commissioned the design of artwork for the client to choose from, all using acoustically transparent fabric in order to not disrupt the audio quality coming from the hidden speakers behind some of them. We also decided to move the door to the room, so that the entrance was not via the pantry, saving space and keeping the projector central within the room. The Sony Laser Projector was housed within an external AV rack room, as the client wanted to create the effect of a commercial cinema. The front wall also hides additional acoustic treatment that we implemented to improve the way the system sounds.ĭue to the size and shape of the room, the originally proposed subwoofers at the front of the room were not enough to create powerful, immersive bass throughout the whole space, so we went on to incorporate an additional 2 subwoofers into the floor of the rear stage of seating.

We also went on to install air conditioning for both heating and cooling, bespoke fabric panelling for the side walls, a Starscape ceiling and bespoke LED lighting to run the length of the panels. We began by utilising our building contractor to effectively build a room within a room, rearranging the entrance, raising the floor levels, and dropping the ceiling. We were then tasked with building and replicating this. At this stage, once the client had a better idea of their requirements, we worked with them to create a full render design for the room, which the client was thrilled with. The Solution: We started the process by taking the clients to a demonstration at the Artcoustic facility in Essex, allowing them to gain a better understanding of the level of performance, along with the aesthetic design options available to them. Due to the room being a bare shell, a full turnkey solution was required, including all building works, decorating and M&E services. The Brief: Within this client’s property, they were looking to convert an unused wine cellar into a high performing dedicated cinema room for the whole family to enjoy.
